From the Publisher:
This collection of articles explains an evolution which has not yet completely come to a stop and the effects of which cannot yet be seen in perspective, namely the increase in leisure time. The articles try to fill the gaps in the historical analyses carried out up to now. Their point of departure is the argument that in Europe leisure did not become a reality for the masses until the 19th century and that this reality resulted from a general process of modernization.
