Meet Rebecca

Hi! I’m a new member of the first floor services team. I am continuing the get to know you series. I have answered the questions below and I hope that you learn a little bit more about me. Feel free to stop by the desk and tell me about yourself. Keep your eyes open for more posts from other library workers in the future.

Are you a Teachers College student, and, if so, what are you studying?
No, I recently graduated from Pratt with a degree in library and information science.

Where’s your hometown?
Brooklyn, NY…born and raised!

Your favorite meal?
I’m currently on a Thai food kick!

A country you’d like to visit?
I love to travel so there are many countries I would like to visit. But my sister is currently living in Israel and I have never been, so I’m going to go with Israel as my final answer.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
An ice skater, an actress, a pediatrician…it changed weekly.

What was your first job?

Babysitter.

What has been your worst job?
working at the costume shop in the theater department of my college. It sounds cool in theory but I had to relearn how to use the sewing machine at the start of each week…

What has been your best job?
Teaching English in Japan was an amazing experience that I am so grateful for. But, working at the library has been awesome too!

What do you remember about your first day of school?
A teacher who played the guitar and sang folk songs….my first school was in Park Slope so that may explain a lot!

A book you strongly recommend?
Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami.

A sport you enjoy playing (or watching)? I get very competitive when I play ping pong…
