Meet Addie

| December 16, 2010

Today is Addie’s turn for the spotlight.  Addie works in tech support, which is the team responsible for helping patrons with

issues using the library’s technology (like when a library laptop stops working, or you need help setting up for a presentation at the library), and for posting the world’s headlines for your viewing pleasure in the library cafe.   She has worked at Gottesman since January of this year. You should also recognize her from here Learning at the Library posts – like this one about becoming a librarian.

Are you a student here, and, if so, what are you studying? I am a student, but not a student here. I’m a second-year library and information science graduate student at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

Where is your hometown?

Royalton, Minnesota

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I remember having a strong desire to be a “girl robber” with a pink ski mask. Also, I told my mother that I wanted to be a junkie when I grew up. I do not steal nor do I do heroin, so none of my childhood fantasies have reached fruition.

What has been your worst job?

Janitor. Er…custodian. Same thing

What has been your best job?

My current Vogue digital-archiving freelance job.

Your favorite meal? soup
Are you a morning or night person? night.
Song you love no matter how many times you hear it: “I’ll Keep It With Mine” by Bob Dylan.

… Favorite authors or books?

Les Misérables by Victor Hugo, Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, and The Last Picture Show by Larry McMurty

Complete the sentence.

The strangest thing I’ve ever done was… move to New York.

The weirdest thing I’ve ever done for money was… cut hair.

Thanks for sharing your responses Addie!  If you would like to make like Proust,  you can answer the Proust questionnaire (and also compare your answers to celebrities’ responses) here or be a part of this online effort to catalog responses to the Proust questionnaire from one-millionth of the world’s population.  And, if you would like to know more about Addie, just ask the next time you see her!
