Taking a Study Break with Abby the Therapy Dog- Here at Gottesman Libraries!
It’s a busy time at Teachers College with finals around the corner. Everyone is studying, finishing projects, writing papers, and taking tests. The library is always trying to find ways to ease the stress and frustration of finals week, whether it be staying open until 1:00 A.M. until May 9, providing complimentary chocolates for students at the front desk, or having a visit from Abby, an adorable, sweet golden lab who loves to make friends. Today in the Zen Garden of the second floor reading room, the therapy dog was available for anyone to come play with and pet. She especially loves to be given treats, which are provided by her owner Karen Baldwin.
One unexpected and positive aspect of Abby’s presence in the Zen Garden was that not only did students uplift their spirits by interacting with her, it was also a chance for them to meet and network with other students. Usually in the study spaces people work with their friends or alone while listening to music, so it was exciting to see how Abby brought people together who may not have met otherwise.
Tell us what you think! Would you like to have Abby visit TC more frequently? Good luck on your finals!
