With All Seriousness, Comics Find a Permanent Home

150914_ExhibitionR_219x365While you may relish reading the Sunday funnies over a cuppa in the coziness of your kitchen, you may also recall perusing Serious Comics, featured earlier this Fall as the lattes lapped Everett to the tune of daily news. The display spoke volumes to the relevance and impact of the comic as an innovative model for new forms of teaching, learning, and research. Highlighted in the newly redesigned Cafe book space were seminal works, popular contemporary publications, and others, more scholarly, that explored theories and practices of education. Classic, timely, fresh — and now permanent to the home of the Gottesman Libraries, these books were recently re-located to the main, oversize, and children’s literature stacks. Further, they can be checked out for an entire semester, barring any recalls due to their popularity! Moving from funny papers to graphic novels, traditional text to visual tome, cartoon to classroom, we think how such resources cast new light and shape.
