Books In The Hood: Using Libraries In New York City
The clock is ticking… your nerves are fraying… the assignment is due the day after tomorrow and neither Teachers College nor Columbia University Libraries has the one book or article you need to complete your research.
This is one of those times when Interlibrary Loan just isn’t fast enough.
Our library maintains limited reciprocal on-site access agreements with libraries in the metropolitan New York City area and Westchester County through the METRO Referral Card System
Who?: Faculty, Students and Staff of Teachers College
How?: Obtain a METRO Referral Card from the 1st Floor Information Desk. Library staff will help you: (1) Verify that the item or subject area you need is not available in the Gottesman Libraries, Columbia University Libraries or a public library; (2) Identify a local library that can fill your need; (3) Check the METRO Member Directory for use restrictions; and (4) Telephone the host library to make sure the item or subject collection is available.
Where?: Over 200 local libraries listed in the METRO Member Directory.
The Metropolitan New York Library Council (METRO) is a non-profit organization working to develop and maintain essential library services throughout New York City and Westchester County.
